A startling discovery is made and one man fights to bring the truth out to the masses
Football is a beloved sport that fans watch all over the world. The NFL is a powerful corporation that runs the league like a well oiled machine. They have had their issues and problems come up in the past and Concussion plans to focus on one of these moments in history. It looks at something that the NFL wanted to sweep under the rug and how one man took a huge risk to make it known to everyone.
One day Dr. Bennett Omalu (Will Smith) makes a startling discovery. Football players who have repetitive head trauma over time end up having a serious and dangerous condition that usually leads to life-long problems for them . But when Dr. Bennett tries to make the National Football League aware of this they ignore him. They want to hear nothing of it and prefer to act like it doesn’t exist. Thus begins a battle of one man against a giant corporation to fight for the truth. The odds don’t appear to be in Dr. Bennett’s favor but he knows he has to push to get them to see what is happening to their players. Will he be able to convince them of what is going on? Why do they fear his discovery so much? And what lengths will the NFL go to try to keep him quiet?
This writer is excited for this movie. Will Smith is a perfect fit for the main character and is sure to bring all of the elements needed to make this story heard in a strong way. It is high time that young people become aware of this historic event and everything looks to be put together in a fashion that will give it justice. The film will be a sort of David and Goliath story but hopes to show that a fight like this has to happen sometimes to bring change. This is a film men should see with their sons there is much both of them could learn from a film like this.
If you want to see a good drama this is the movie to see. If you are a fan of Will Smith you should definitely see this film. Concussion is coming to theaters December 25, 2015.
